I tried to open my trunk with fob and it opened a little and quickly closed. tried again same thing?? any comments, going to dealer monday morn to fix

Did you try opening it from the dash-mounted switch? Is the battery fully charged? If you answer yes to both, a dealer trip is probably the ultimate answer. If you're lucky, it's a sensor/switch/latch.

Yes I used the switch inside and the key to open same thing! I think the battery is fully charges, cranks ok. I will let you know how it turns out. thanks

Well here is what happened! I drove in a hard rain a few day ago and it rained hard for a while. A leak somewhere in the trunk seal let water run down into the trunk and into the recesses where the hydraulic pump and ECM are located. Leaf pluged the draing hole and it filled with water shorting out the electronics . So It goes back friday for the leak specialist to identify leak and all the electronics will be replaced, should be ok. so Check the drain hole from time to time.

You aren't the first one with this problem. Consider this your yearly reminder to CHECK YOUR DRAIN TUBES, PEOPLE! I forget about checking it as well.

Crawl beneath the drivers side at the back of the car. Look for the little black tube. Squeeze it to be sure it's unobstructed. Check it again in a year.

Thanks for the headsup!!! This is somthing I'd have never thought of; I printed it out and will put it in the car as a reminder!!!

You guys drive these in the rain? :pat:
Yeah, so do I occasionally. Good info to know, thanks.

Usually only when I get caught in the rain... hardly ever drive her when it even looks like rain. But, sometimes we have little squalls; you look up and wonder where the rain is coming from...

Of course we also wash our babies, so some water can work it's way into places unintended.

Rich, that is such good advice - such a simple thing to do! :rocker:

I can imagine how much that would cost if it was out of warranty!

Since I've only had the car for 2 weeks now and we just had our first soaking rain, I noticed a puddle of water in the covered, lower area of my trunk (where the data plate is). Can't seem to see where the water is coming in at. I cleared the drain tube on the other side already.
Any thoughts?

Mine does the same thing - annoying... I'd love to know whats causing it

Trunk Drain Tube

I have an 06 XLR and my trunk won't open with the FOB or the trunk release button inside. The only way to get in the trunk is to drop the top. Can someone take a picture of the black tube that I need to squeeze and empty? or draw a picture? I got underneath the car on the drivers side and could not locate it. Any help would be much appreciated as my car has no warranty. Thanks in advance!

trunk not working properly

I have had the same problem and others. I will bet yours gets worse. I have had to take to the dealer to have them reprogram or reteach each of the mechanisms positions. In my mind they aren't fixing it for real. They will wait until I have to pay for the repair and then replace the brain that goes funky one a year.

I was once told by a service rep at Cadillac that one of the short comings of the XLR is weather stripping in the trunk area. He said this problem is increased if the car is parked on an angle (such as a steep driveway) during harder rain showers.

Obviously not everyone has the ability to keep their X in a garage or be as selective when driving it in certain weather, but a water proof car cover used during heavier rain storms may be a decent preventative measure for keeping water out of the electronics.

Mine doesn't have a black tube, just a small hole drilled in the bottom of the driver's side well where the pump and electronics are located.
