15th Anniversary Participants,

Our 15th Anniversary Celebration is drawing near. We have over 5,000 pre-registered participants attending and we are asking your help. If you have any free time and want to help us out by volunteering during our celebration this year – we would be very appreciative. We need volunteers in all aspects of the museum. Anywhere from parking – registration – staging road tours – corvette store – seminar staffing and even the corvette café are in need of some great volunteers. We won’t work you really hard or keep you too long at a time! After all – this is your celebration as well!

If interested – please e-mail Torie Cockriel as she is the one that is placing the volunteers where they are needed. Her e-mail address is: torie.cockriel@wku.edu

We want you all to have a great time at our 15th Anniversary Celebration and look forward to seeing you soon!

Thank you for your consideration for being a volunteer as well as your support of the National Corvette Museum.

open

Greetings! Below are some last-minute "news" items for all of our friends travelling to Bowling Green for Corvette Caravan / 15th Anniversary.

PARKING
Parking for Corvettes will be around the Museumand at the Corvette Plant. Caravans arriving will be paraded through the NCM grounds and then directed to parking areas. Vehicles will not be allowed to stop at the Museum grounds. You will need to continue driving on to the outer lots or to the plant to park or continue on to your hotel to check-in. Be sure and smile and wave at the videographer in the new NCM circle drive as you are passing.

SHUTTLES
We will have three shuttles running continuously from all parking areas to the Museum. This shuttle is also available from the Museum to the Plant for tours. Additionally, two shuttles will run from the Museum to and from Sloan Convention Center on Thursday, Friday and Saturday where many of our seminars will be held.

REGISTRATION MATERIALS
Registration materials can be picked up on Victory Lane. Enter through the overhead door between the new and old sections of the NCM, after you arrive on the grounds.

EXTENDED HOURS
The Corvette Museum will be open until 8pm on Wednesday, September 2, Friday, September 4 and Saturday, September 5.

MESSAGES FROM THE GM PLANT
Tours
The GM Bowling Green Assembly Plant has almost reached full capacity for plant tours next Thursday and Friday, September 3 and 4. There are only 3 time slots still available. If you desire to tour the plant, you may register for the following tour times:
Thursday, September 3 @ 9:00 a.m.
Thursday, September 3 @ 9:30 a.m.
Thursday, September 3 @ 1:15 p.m.
Please visit www.bowlinggreenassemblyplant.com to register. Registration is first come, first serve. Once these time slots are full, tour reservations will no longer be accepted. In addition, WALK-INS WILL NOT BE ACCEPTED on these days due to tour volume. We look forward to seeing you at the plant!
Safety Video
If you are signed up to tour the GM Corvette Plant, you MUST watch the safety video and receive critical safety information at the museum before you go to the plant. Once you have met these requirements at the museum, you will receive a SAFETY STICKER that will permit your entrance to the plant. NOTE: The video will be showing at the NCM on Thursday and Friday approximately every 30 minutes. It is recommended that you watch the video at the Museum in the Chevrolet Theater as there is limited space at the plant to watch the video.
Safety Protocol Reminder
Key Safety Points While Touring Bowling Green Assembly
At General Motors, safety is at the forefront of everything we do. Our company takes pride in our strong safety culture, which now serves as a benchmark for industries and companies around the world. Here are some keysafety points that everyone MUST remember while at the Bowling Green Assembly Plant in order to have a safe, enjoyable tour.
· When you are on the plant floor, you must stay on the green path, within the yellow lines painted on the floor at all times. That means that you may need to maintain a single file line in certain areas of the plant. When you see the amount of mobile equipment traffic in the plant aisles, you will see why you must stay on the green path. Always make eye contact with mobile equipment drivers as you cross aisles. Their vision is often obstructed by their equipment, so please be sure they see you before you proceed.
· Although there are many interesting operations inside the plant which you may wish to observe for an extended period, it is important that you continue moving to prevent safety hazards; stopping in areas can disrupt production and cause problems. Always make eye contact with mobile equipment operators; they will let you know if you need to move forward or backwards so that they can deliver material.
· Please remember that you are not allowed to enter the facility with a camera, cell phone, PDA, walkie-talkie or any other electronic device; these items must be left in your car and will not be allowed in. No headsets, etc. can be worn in the plant as you must be able to hear material drivers as they approach.
· Backpacks, purses, or bags of any type are not allowed inside the facility. Remember to leave these items in your car as there is nowhere inside the plant to store them while you tour.
· You must have closed-toed shoes on when you enter the building; we do not allow anyone in the plant with open-toed shoes, no matter the circumstance.
· Children must be seven years of age to tour the facility. While walking with older children, please keep hold of them and make sure they do not get close to the yellow line.
· If you have a question or need help during your stay, please approach someone wearing a "Volunteer" badge and they will be happy to assist you.
· If the plant had to evacuate or take shelter, please follow the employees nearest to you to the proper evacuation or take shelter point.
· If you are unable to walk, please let a volunteer know and we will do our best to provide you with a wheelchair.
· For your safety and to protect our product, please refrain from touching racks, parts, cars, etc. while on tour.
- Food or drinks are not allowed on tour.
Following these safety requirements can ensure that everyone has an enjoyable tour, remains safe and our production operations are not disrupted. We look forward to seeing you at the plant!
Chick-fil-a Bagged Lunches
For a convenient way to grab lunch before or after your tour, Chick-fil-A restaurants will be selling bagged lunches outside the entrance to the GM Plant on Thursday and Friday, Sept. 3 & 4 from 10:30 a.m .- 11:45 a.m. A bag lunch will consist of the following: 1 hot Chick-fil-A chicken sandwich, a bag of Lay's potato chips, a fudge nut brownie, and your choice of soda. Cost is $6.00 per meal
There are signs at the plant stating do not bring anything inside, but don't forget CASH for the meals! (CASH ONLY, no check, credit card)

LODGING
There are rooms available in Bowling Green. PLEASE NOTE: The Knights Inn in Cave City has closed its doors. We know that property was full with Caravan participants, however - the property owners have left town without notifying the guests of the closure. Those of you who had reservations at this property will need alternate accommodations. An up to date listing of area availability can be found online at: http://visitbgky.com/caravan/lodging/. Additionally, the Visitors Bureau staffs an information kiosk in the lobby of NCM. They will have lodging availability posted at the kiosk during the event.

We are heading out Thursday morning, it should be a great weekend. We will be there when they draw Supa's raffle ticket on Sunday.:rocker:

This Saturday at the NCM Celebration, people are encouraged to wear their car club shirts. I'm taking our Midwest Marauder shirts to wear!! :chuckle We'll see if anyone notices that our shirts have an XLR on it, instead of a Corvette! I bet they don't!
