Petit Le Mans 2011 @ Road Atlanta

I orderd our 4 day tickets today. I need to reserve our golf cart tomorrow. AWESOME race! Maybe some of you guys can join us there.

We're planning on going to the races and then driving down to visit Hannah and David in St. Petersburg. We may even see if they are able to come up to Atlanta for the weekend. H2 and D2 haven't been to an ALMS race in a long time.

While we're down in FLA we will still be looking for that million dollar beach house that's selling for $100K. Thought Schooley was supposed to find that for me.

We were told on Saturday that Cadillac will have a parking corral @ Road Atlanta during Petit Le Mans weekend. I hope to have more info to pass along in the next few days.

The Cadillac Grand Prix @ Road Atlanta will be on Friday. This is the race that both of the Cadillac CTS-Vs will be in.

The corral will be for all Cadillac owners & I should have info soon on getting tickets. I suggested they put the corral information on Road Atlanta's website to get as many owners as we can. They are looking into Cadillacs doing a couple of parade laps. It would be great to have a big group of XLRs in the corral.

I called Road Atlanta today and they have no idea about any of the above; told me to call the local dealership. Still working my calendar to fit this in, but do I just buy the 4 day ticket and wait?

I just got an email from Dana :

I spoken with John Kraemer and we’re going to send you (5) tickets for our Cadillac corral area that we’ll have in Atlanta. We are still working on a run of show for the weekend, so we’ll send you this once it’s complete so you know of all of our activities taking place and the tickets.

I presently have a ticket for Saturday only, so I'd be willing to let someone else have it who will be there longer than 1 day. But if there are less than 5 takers, I'd love to have one!

We will be driving David's Corvette to Road Atlanta and will be parking in their corral on Thursday and Friday. On Saturday, David and Hannah are joining us and we will be driving to the track in Hannah's Jetta so we have only one car to park that day.

We rented a golf cart, so we will definitely stop by to take a look at the Cadillac corral, but we don't need tickets to park there.

Do we all have each other's cell phones so we can meet up at the race?

WHO WANTS ONE?

I will take one if there are enough. Like you, I contacted Road Atlanta and they have no information whatsoever regarding Cadillac's coral. Apparently Cadillac and Audi (maybe others) self administer their corals, tickets, and activities. The track folks don't know anything and couldn't tell me who to contact.

I have also called the closest Cadillac dealer (in Gainesville, GA) and someone there is working the issue for me. He says he is trying to get info for his customers and a free ticket for himself. So far he has yet to tell me anything helpful.

I will keep trying and pass on anything I learn.

I got a return call from the GA dealer. He reports that Cadillac coral passes are apparently being sent to Cadillac dealers to go to interested customers He recommended that I contact my local dealer and try to obtain one.

Looks like I will be buying my next Cadillac from Gizmo......

Typical Cadillac marketing strategy....maybe get a new customer (doubtful ) by offering a no cost parking pass, rather than taking care of their existing customers.

Holy CRAP! I just checked my front door and fond a FedEx package from Cadillac Racing Marketing. O.K. great the parking passes are here, filnally.


BUT Wait, there's something else:

Five 2-Day Race SuperTickets (Fri/Sat), yes that's right if anyone has already paid for two-day tickets call the track and get a refund (I just did this myself a few minutes ago and they were very accommodating). I'd hate for these things to go to waste! These also give you acces to the Cadillac Hospitality tent (Food and Drinks served).


Who needs 2 day race tickets and Infield parking passes.

OBTW, they also sent me their schedule of events:

Yeah! We're actually on our way! Left Avoca about noon. We'll be at the Corvette corral Thursday morning We are bringing an 8x10 red canopy and will set it up on the hill behind the big tent. I wish! By the time the sun set it was down right cold. There was a high wind advisory all day and even in the sun it was cool all day. A bonfire would have been welcome.

Petit Le Mans at Road Atlanta is now over and what an AMAZING event this has been! Cadillac Racing Team dominated the track on Friday finishing 1st and 3rd. The team also gave away free shirts (by the hundreds) which were probably the best deal at the track; except maybe the free beer and food at the Cadillac observation site. It was a very pleasant time.

In total, four (4) XLRs graced the Cadillac Coral, each from a different state. (Georgia: (Jack & Lynda-"jackparker06V"), Ohio; (Rich-"Homegameroom"), Illinois (Marvin & P.J-"GizmoQ"), and Florida; Schooley) It was a real treat to also have Jack & Lynda's son and his girlfriend join us at the event. Really great couple!

On the Corvette side we had two (2) tucked into the Corvette Coral from two (2) states. From Indiana, Kathy-"Photo Girl" & Bruce-"Cadillac Tech" were everywhere taking pictures. The Wisconsin Chipmonks errr.. sorry I mean "Badgers" were represented by David-"Diamond Dell" and Kathy-"Quinn" plus their daughter and her boyfriend came from Florida to join us. How cool is that! Certainly one of the best parts of the entire weekend was the opportunity to experience first hand why the Parkers and Kinney's are justifiably so proud of their kids--they should be! What fun people they are to join in with us. Great kids; no question!

For me the best part of this race weekend was the opportunity to spend some quality time with every person there. Although the race thing is totally new to me I had a wonderful time. I highly recommend these events to everyone. You will be glad you joined in on the fun! SO--Perhaps we will see some of you at Sebring, Florida in March!!
