Had hoped to take the V out for a one year of ownership spin today, but find myself down with a darn cold! Just shy of 10k miles in this first year...just can't seem to stay out of her for long ; ). Nothing quite like these cars!

I wanted to take mine out today, but find myself down with THE darn cold . . . and rain, and sleet, and maybe some snow.

Oh well, got to run her a bunch yesterday before the mess moved in.

Hope you feel better!

Headed for Bondaurant in Phoenix next week. 505 hp Corvette Z06 6 speed manual for two days. I know my neck will be sore from those 1G turns for a while after that!

Did you have fun? When we were in Phoenix for Barrett-Jackson the Bonduant racing team was there 'hot-lapping" visitors outside the tents .... they were so much fun to watch ....

Bondurant School of High Performance Driving

We just got back home yesterday. Had a great time. I am sure glad we went this time of year, temps were in the 60's during the day. It would be brutal out there on the tarmac in the summer.

Yep, that's them - awesome drivers aren't they .... did they show off for you and give you a free donut-show??

We were in AZ too this past week ... on the Colorado River at Laughlin -- you're right, the weather was G-O-R-G-E-O-U-S ..... and it does get really hot there in the summer .... but, like they say ... it's a dry heat ;) - really is much easier to bear than high temps with humidity. I love AZ .... if we ever HAD to move from San Diego, I would choose Scottsdale ...

Nice pictures ... thanks for posting them .... I took a short film of them lapping with the Shelby's ....

Steven, it's good to hear that you had fun @ Bondurant. It is something I have always wanted to do. Thanks for posting the pictures.:)

Bruce .... you SHOULD go .... maybe an AZ Rendezvous VI :rocker:

Haven't heard that word in awhile ... ;)

Hey Ruth Ann thanks for the complement! That's me driving in both pictures. The young fellow behind me in the first picture was not happy that I was in his way. He got in front of me once and it was all I could do to try and stay up with him!

That sounds like a great idea. We are planning a driving trip to California via Phoenix next year, probably February/March timeframe.

That's YOU???? How fun is that????

Yep ... we could be there next year .... PHX is just a day's drive for us .... It would be cool to meet there ... Oh, God, that means Ray is gonna wanna do that .... :pat: Well, better him than me! ;)

January in Scottsdale is Barrett-Jackson .... maybe that would be a good week and those that want to do Bondurant could too .... and, BTW ... there is a Harrah's Casino in Maricopa too .... golf courses galore .... Sedona for the sightseeing ... oh! so much to do and so little time!! Let's do it!

That is so doable for us .... that will be our 3rd trip to B-J .... it's just such a beautiful time of the year for AZ .... it is packed with Snow Birds ... Warm days and clear, cold, dry desert nights .... PERFECT! Bring your flip-flops and your jackets!

Today was a perfect weather day, washed "Little Bugger" and then washed "Big Bertha" They both really needed it. The XLR now has 24,000 miles on it and the DTS has 2,400 on it. This is the first time for me to wash the DTS, it looks so much better than when the dealer does it as I do it all by hand and get off all the bugs and road tar. Now I have to decide which one to drive to lunch tomorrow. Lunch is with all the Illinois Masons that are in the Phoenix area. Will be fun to spend time with folks from Illinois.

Houston Coffee and Cars

I went to the coffee and cars gathering last weekend for the first time in about 9 months and it has grown in size. I have never seen so many different types of cars in one place. Plenty of Mopars, Mustangs, Exotics and customs to look at. Here are a few pics. First time to see a McLaren MP4-12C and there were two of them there. I just watched a program on the Shelby Daytona and how it was built to beat Ferrari and got to see one in person. I think this is a copy because there are only a few in existance. More Lamborghinis there than Cadillacs. My XLR was the only one I saw there.

Bruce, you wouldn't believe what we put those cars through in two days. Probably the equavilent of 100,000 miles driving on the highway. Actually probably not even that is a fair comparison. We had one straight line course about 1/4 mile with a pile of tires at both ends. Full power up to thrid gear, full brakes, downshift, around the tires and do it again. I probably made the circle at least 30 times. Imagine a Z06 full throttle 60 times and then the brakes on to the point of ABS each time. We were practicing heel and toe braking while downshifting for the next turn.
