Valet switch

Not a dream....

I remember when we were leaving our "valet event" I went to open the trunk via the under-lid lift button and it wouldn't budge. Only then did I remember that I had set the valet switch to "On". I never tried the key fob, but just unlocked the glove box and flipped the switch.

A few minutes ago I tested both the lift button and the key fob with my valet switch set "On". Neither attempt would lift the trunk, but it did make the lights blink a couple of times, fore and aft. It's a pretty handy feature when operating properly and you're exposed to these type of events occasionally. Now, if we could just come up with a way to shrink that key to a more comfortable size.

Did I read somewhere that later model XLR's had a key that recessed into the fob? Maybe that was a dream... :dunno:

The later model Cadillacs have the back up/emergency key integrated into the fob... No more seperate awkward key dangling around. BUT... I found the post and it appears that we can purchase the newer ('08 & '09) integrated fobs and they should work fine. I'm gonna check my dealer and see how many arms and or legs it'll cost me to get those...lol.

(On ebay) I found a brand new pair of 2008 fobs (still in OE packaging) for $99.00. - I'm trying to post the link below. I hope I can get this right.

According to the post the seller has for pair available. (Also, I couldn't find a difference between XLR's and other Caddy fobs. Is there a difference that you know or heard of?)

Be be sure to check with the seller that it has an UNCUT key inside. The eBay seller I purchased mine from had an advertised UNCUT key. Here is another listing on what I mean.

New 08 09 10 11 Cadillac cts STS Smart Key Keyless Entry Remote Fob w Key | eBay

I sent the seller a message asking just that... His response was these are brand new still in factory packaging, blank keys and all and have never been opened let alone cut.

I'm suspicious only because the picture on the one you listed doesn't show the button by the silver key ring under the trunk picture. See below.

Your back up... I wondered whether it was long enough to reach our back up key hole. Did you have any issues with that at all?

The key inside is a little shorter than the actual key but if you push the bumper in slightly it will give enough room to turn the key without rubbing.

Mike do you remember how much they charge to program them and does all buttons function work with ours, it says 5 button?

My dealer charged $60 to erase all FOBs and reprogram the new FOB as #1. I had the programming steps to do it myself but we were leaving for BG Homecoming soon and I didn't want to mess something up before the trip.
The remote start does not work. The lock/unlock, trunk and the panic are the working buttons.

Thx and the picture you posted here is that the correct ones for our cars

New style FOB

I have one of these new style FOB's I'd be willing to sell. It has the 'uncut' key included. PM me and make an offer.
