Have things picked up any in your neck of the woods?

It's been very quiet here. There's not much work to go around in our shop. You're lucky to turn 20 hrs. a week. It hasn't helped that it is back to school time and they also hired two more techs.:pat:

Hopefully things will pick up soon.:)

According to our Commander-in-chief; things are turning around. He was in Ft. Wayne, IN last week (about 40 miles from my office) when he said this. I wish he would have come over to our area and seen how slow it was. I have customers, that in good times employ 300-500 people in the electrical industry and are down to 25 people total. Wherever the stimulas money went, it didn't touch our area, unless it's in our local politicians pockets.:(:(

Last year was not a 'boom year' for us, but we did alright. We are currently down 30% from last year with no signs of progress going into our winter months.

Cars are being sold, the tech's are busy, new housing starts just about every day, hard to get a plumber, electrician, carpenter, chimney sweep unless you want to wait a month. All of this in Colorado and not just Colorado Springs. I dropped off "Little Bugger" at 4:00 P.M. yesterday as my tech wanted to start to work on him this morning at 5:30 A.M.. There has not been any stimulas money handed out in Colorado as of this date. The best time to go to the grocery stores is between 2:00 A.M. and 6:00 A.M.. Colorado is usually late in being hit by the downturns.

Let's hope things stay that way in CO. It's nice to hear of things going well.

In my business there can be a big difference between having vehicles to work on and making a living. It can be very tough some days to turn any hours. Being slow does give me plenty of time to clean and wax my tool box.:)

Things are very bad here about 65% of business has closed many people out of work and very few people spending any money. The powers to be have already warned us of tax increases coming in order for them to operate services for the city and State.

I know you and Supa have done your part to keep beer sales up.

I think I'll try to get you a little busier. I'm in the process of booking a return flight from Indianapolis to Cleveland and back again so I can drop Misty off for her repairs. She still needs a new BCM and a few other things looked at - I may as well have everything done by the best people I can find!

I'll call you when I get a minute or 2 to breathe. I may bug CornDog for a ride/rides to the airport.

Just a point of information, a new Hampton Inn is being built in Salida and I just heard a report that the casino's in Cripple Creek have just posted a pretty hefty increase in revenue from the increase of people visiting them this year.
The new Hampton Inn is listed for sale and it hasn't even opened. I tried to book reservations for September 26 & 27 as I am going up for a wedding on the 26th. Guess I will have to stay at the Holiday Inn Express.

If Misty doesn't show up soon, I may not be here...Welcome to Wal-Mart:lol:

Doing my part

I am waiting to be picked up so I can get "Little Bugger". They installed his new tires this morning, replaced the whatever for the driver door lock and the trunk lock. So far this year, new wheels and tires for "Little Bugger" and traded the hearse for the DTS so Red Noland loves me plus all the warranty work on the little guy.

With your talent there is no way that would happen. Some dealer would pick you up. I'm sure up around us would love to have a tech like you. :D Could you imagine that you and Kathy living by me. Oh boy would I have you corrupt in no time. :)

What he SAYS and what IS appear to be 2 different things ....

There isn't a soapbox big enough .... so I'll jump off now. :blinzel:

FR, thanks for doing your part, we need more people out there spending their money.

Got a letter today that my service writer is no longer with the dealership. Hope he finds work someplace. He was good!

Well as soon as I get Daisy I will get you busy with some new things to "SUPA" her up! You are the only one I want adding to her! :D

He wasn't kidding...it was 20 hours for 2 weeks of work. :(

That's just terrible to hear. I know that by virtue of being an employee, that he has to be "at work" for the standard 40, but only gets paid for actual work performed. That's almost worse than be laid off, where at least he could draw unemployment and have the opportunity to be seeking other work.

Is it lack of customers? Waiting for parts? Too many techs in the kitchen?

'Hate hearing this.

It's all of the above. We don't have a lot of work and what we do have isn't what you would call good work. You add in more techs and it gets that much tougher to turn any hours. Parts supply has been a problem for some time. I think GM owes money to many of their suppliers. Until they get paid they won't build or ship parts.

This is the worst I've seen in the 26 yrs. I've been in the business.:)
