Welcome to the Cadillac XLR Forums!

Funfest 2011 (Bobfest)

Couldn't have had a better time and wow what a great event! It's hard to believe we only joined the group for the first time about six months ago, we already feel like we are old friends with everyone. So many have gone out of their way to make us feel welcome and it's great making new friends everytime we get together. Will definately put next year's events on the calendar earlier this time.

So, 3 days later ... When we left the airport (thank you Bob, for the breakfast and the tour of the hanger) ... on the way back to Wilmington I was knocked down by some sort of 'virus' .... I'd blame it on the chocolate wine and way too much fun, but I'm betting I picked up a bug at the casino in Joliet (dirty ol' machines .... haha) .... anyway, today is actually the first day I feel human since that ride home to LinSue's.

Anyway .... I never got a chance to tell everyone how grateful I was to be able to be here for BobFest .... the slogan could be ... BobFest-the best! Thank you my darlings Marion and Cubby for dinner at the Alamo - although I had to kind of laugh at Cubby's reaction to the bill ... he said, wow, you guys don't eat much, I've had bigger bar tabs than this! (should I be worried??) ... anyway, much appreciated by me and everyone else I'm sure - VERY generous and very welcoming. It made for a great beginning to a great next 24 hours.

Bob/Jello .... I have worn my necklace everyday .... I keep checking to make sure it's still around my neck .... I love it ... I love it.

Mostly I want to thank everyone who just came to the event. It was so good to just sit there beside you all and feel the friendship. And everyone of you know that I mean that.

Bob - over and over again ... more thanks .... couldn't even begin to put it into words. I LOVE NICK and easy to see that you are never out of his sight ... What a beautiful doggie.

I will leave LinSues on Thursday to head back home - I have to admit that leaving the family has been pretty tough .... this is the longest I have been separtated from my 2 littlest grandboys.... my 3 year old called yesterday to make me promise to come over on 'Friday' and bring my phone ... he doesn't know when Friday is, but he does know that my version of Angry Birds is different from his .... haha.

Thank you all for posting pictures .... George, all you need is a tri-pod and you are going to be in business - those campfire pictures are great!

Great pics Bruce, thanks for sharing.

Glad there's room in the corral for us - it's just a long, long hike! (Not a real good excuse given the length others traveled, but I'll throw in a child in school for an extra excuse).

We might have to make up an "East Coast Chapter" XLR sign though ...

I love the pictures, Bruce ... thank you for sharing. I will try to get some of mine posted in the next day or two.

This truly was a wonderful event - kudos to Bob and Paula and everyone else.. after all - a party needs PEOPLE to show up too.

A great sampling of pictures .... and I know those are just that ..... I saw Kathy workin' that camera ..... and now you're workin' the downloads .... personally I really like that picture with the flag :patriot: - who's car is that??? Wish it was mine. I am will be home tomorrow night at this time and will be able to look at the CD you gave me .... I know everyone is tired .... and not wanting to download pictures to the forum .... I really don't know much about Photobucket ... but is it possible that instead of taking all of the time to download and sort out pictures that we can just download what we have and share just the link on the forum??

I got a chance to go by Cubby & Supa's last night for a final goodbye  hug ... I am sorry to report that apparently now Cubby has the Casino Flu ... oh, and Missy Bling too .... The good part is, it is short-lived .... so short, that I have corrupted LinSue a little more and made her take me to the Hollywood Casino, somewhere up here by Wilmington ... nice place. Didn't win. :banghead:

So .... goodbye to the Mid West BobFest ..... thanks for having me .... see you tomorrow from San Diego ....

.... personally I really like that picture with the flag :patriot: - who's car is that???

That's Rich's XLR.:)

Sandy - Thank you so much for posting your photos. I really appreciate the effort it takes to share with everyone.

Bruce - AWESOME job, as usual. You and Kathy come up with the best shots! I always look forward to your photo postings because they keep the fun and good memories going far beyond the actual events. THANK YOU

There were a couple of minor mistakes and one BIG One. Paula was not mentioned despite my request twice to credit her and acknowledge all of her hard work. She was quite dissapointed.

Thank you fro your kind comments on FB. YOU GUYS made the event!

Bob

You deserve the write up. Paula sure did too. You guys do a great job. I regret we couldnt be there this year, but work called, we will be next year. Thanks for all you guys do. Dave and Windi

Missy Bling and 5AM have yet to apporve the release of my photos from this event. (I don't think they ever will; just like my NCH photos were banned- I can't help it if the libations flowed so freely)

But on another note, look what I found on page 16 of Automotive Traveler Magazine

Too bad the editor, Richard Truesdell, didn't come talk to any of us. He might have learned this was not our first FunFest.
